Kanipakam Vinayaka Temple/Kanipakam

Many Gods are worshiped in India, among them Lord Vinayaka have a special place in the hearts of Indians. There are many Vinayaka temples in India, among them Kanipaka Vinayaka is one of its kinds. Here this temple has a beautiful history and many miracles. This temple is situated in Kanipakam in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh state.

HISTORY & ARCHITECHURE:

Sri Varasidh Vinayaka Swamy is the preceding deity of this temple. The statue in this temple is swayambhu. Story behind this temple is, three handicapped brothers one is deaf, second one is dump, & last one is blind. They use to cultivate a small piece of land for their living hood. Irrigation facility is provided from a well nearby. One day they find that water in the well dried up, so they decided to dig it farther for water. While digging in the dried well, to their surprise they heard a sound of metal striking to their tools and instead of water blood starts flowing in the well.  Slowly the water in the well completely turns in to blood. As the brothers got wet in that blood they were cured from their deformities, by seeing this divine miracle villagers tried to dig it further to take Vinayaka out but their actions were futile. Therefore, they declared this as Swyambhu (Self-manifested) and offered prayers, mangalaharathi and coconuts. As countless devotees offered coconuts the water from these coconuts flooded up to more than an acre. Thus, this place is called Kanipakam. The water in the well never dries up and manifesto of Lord Vinayaka grows in size still this day.

This swayambu idol of Kanipakam is the upholder of truth. Many disputes between people were solved here by taking special oaths in front of gods. The People who were in dispute take a holy dip in the tank nearby and swear in front of god for not repeating the same incident.

This temple was constructed in 11th century by Chola king Kulothunga chola 1& further Vizayanagaram emperors developed it.
